During his political career, Giorgio Aliberti has served as deputy permanent representative to United Nations Environment Programme and UN-Habitat, and as head of the Economic and Commercial Office with the Embassy of Italy in Nairobi, Kenya. Before being appointed counselor and head of political affairs for the Italian Embassy in 2011, Aliberti was policy officer with the Council of the European Union from 2003 to 2006, European correspondent with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Rome from 2007 to 2010, and senior counselor to the Italian Embassy in Washington, D.C., from September 2010 to August 2011.
